DENVER, Colorado (July 6, 2020) – Xcel Energy—Colorado crews are ready to begin a natural gas pipeline revitalization project on Wadsworth between Jewel and Alameda avenues. The work is expected to begin Tuesday evening, July 7, and will take place in both northbound and southbound lanes.
Crews will be working overnight, Sunday through Thursdays from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m., although some work may be completed by 5 a.m. The schedule is subject to minor changes due to weather and other construction factors.
Wadsworth Boulevard will remain open to traffic during construction, however drivers will experience lane shifts and closures throughout the project. Traffic control measures will be in place and reduced speed limits will be enforced.
Earlier this year, crews located the utility lines along Wadsworth, removing small cores of asphalt to identify the utility lines. As with the previous phase of the project, Wadsworth Boulevard will be restored after the project is complete by the end of the year. Restoration will take place in 2021.
The public can call the construction hotline at 833-924-1299, email the project at info@xcelenergywadsworthgasproject.com or visit Projects Near You to receive additional information.
