DENVER (Aug. 5, 2026) — Xcel Energy invites the public to join employees and their friends and family on Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 12 for its 16th annual Day of Service, an opportunity to give back to their communities.

Volunteers can sign up now for one of more than 40 nonprofit projects in Colorado. Many are based in the Denver metro area, with other opportunities in Grand Junction, Alamosa, Pueblo and Fort Collins. Indoor and outdoor projects are available and include land stewardship; packing and serving meals for those with food insecurities; and cleaning and organizing nonprofit storage spaces.

“Day of Service is one of the most meaningful ways we live our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Robert Kenney, president, Xcel Energy – Colorado. “One of the things that makes our communities so strong is people’s willingness to help one another, and we’re proud to give our time and resources to support our neighbors and local nonprofits. We invite people of all ages and abilities to join us in giving back and helping strengthen the places we proudly call home.”

Xcel Energy’s Day of Service has been an annual tradition since 2010 and is the company’s largest volunteer effort. Last year, more than 2,900 employees, contractors, friends, family, retirees and customers across the eight states Xcel Energy serves contributed 8,890 hours, including packing 81,600 meals and assembling 6,600 kits for teachers and students. Their efforts benefited nearly 100 nonprofits and generated an economic impact of more than $321,000.

Day of Service was created as a tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of 9/11, as well as all those who work to keep communities and the country safe. The annual volunteer event provides an opportunity for Xcel Energy and members of the community to come together and contribute to projects that benefit local nonprofits.

People of all ages and abilities can participate. Learn more about Day of Service and sign up for a volunteer project through this link. Registration closes on August 28.
