LA CROSSE, Wis.- (Feb. 13, 2024) – Alex Lueck has assumed the role of Community Service Manager for Xcel Energy’s service area in the La Crosse area. This region encompasses Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Crawford Counties. Lueck steps into this position following the retirement of Mike Herro, who retired at the end of last year after 36 years with the company.

Lueck’s professional journey began at Fort McCoy, where he coordinated mapping responsibilities for the Public Works division. Since joining Xcel Energy in 2008, he has held various positions in Minneapolis and La Crosse. Most recently, Lueck served as a Key Account Manager, overseeing major accounts in the La Crosse area, including Kwik Trip, Fort McCoy, Gundersen Health System, City Brewing, Trane Company, City of La Crosse, and La Crosse County.

In his new role, Lueck will collaborate closely with community leaders, nonprofits, businesses, and economic development organizations across the six-county region. His extensive experience includes serving as Board Chair of the Great Rivers United Way, president of Oktoberfest USA, and board member of the La Crosse Downtown Rotary and La Crosse Jaycees. Last year, he received the United Way’s “Volunteer of the Year” award for his long-standing commitment to the region.

Lueck, along with his family, resides in Onalaska, and he is looking forward to assuming this position.  “I’m thrilled to step into this new role with Xcel Energy,” he says. “I look forward to building upon the work that Mike led for so many years making this area an exceptional place to live and work.”

Brian Elwood, regional vice president of Customer and Community Service, expressed enthusiasm about Lueck’s leadership. “We are excited to have Alex guide our local community service and economic development efforts in the Coulee Region,” Elwood said. “Alex’s deep understanding of utility operations, combined with his community engagement and customer engagement, makes him uniquely suited for this important role.”
