MINNEAPOLIS (June 11, 2020) – As part of its commitment to helping neighborhoods and businesses repair and rebuild following the widespread acts of property damage in the Twin Cities, Xcel Energy is offering special help for those businesses. That includes special recovery rebates on equipment that are up to double the usual amount to help replace equipment that was damaged or destroyed, as well as free energy consulting services.

“Our neighborhoods count on their local businesses, and we’re committed to providing the help to build the community back up to be even stronger than it was before,” said Brett Carter, executive vice president and chief customer and innovation officer at Xcel Energy. “The Twin Cities has been our home for more than a century and are we are standing side-by-side with our communities as they work to rebuild. Whether a business requires a complete remodel, or the replacement of certain equipment, we can help.”

The rebates will help offset the cost of high-efficiency lighting, cooling and other equipment. The goal is to help businesses save money as they rebuild and save energy and money in the long run. To be eligible, business customers first need to complete a brief survey by visiting www.xcelenergy.com/RecoveryRebates. A representative will then contact them, discuss their equipment needs and help determine the best path to get the support they need and maximize rebate dollars.

Xcel Energy is working with Minneapolis and Saint Paul business and community organizations to reach out to businesses that may benefit from these rebates and free consulting services, and it is also working to support non-profits and community organizations that are helping people and communities as they rebuild and recover. As part of our commitment to our communities, Ben Fowke, Xcel Energy CEO and chairman, also joined several other Twin Cities CEOs in a pledge (external link) to address racial inequities in the state.
