Sioux Falls, S.D. (Sept. 16, 2019) – Xcel Energy is more than just a company that does business in Sioux Falls. Its employees are also members of the community who have made the city their home. And to help the community recover from last week’s devastating tornado, the Xcel Energy Foundation has donated $20,000 to the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation’s Tornado Recovery Fund.

“Our thoughts are with our neighbors in Sioux Falls and particularly those who were in the tornado’s path last week,” said Steve Kolbeck, principal manager, Xcel Energy-South Dakota. “While our immediate focus last week was repairing damage and getting the lights back on, we’re now standing with our fellow citizens to help Sioux Falls fully recover from the tornadoes and flooding.”

More than 26,000 customers lost power after the September 11 storm, and Xcel Energy quickly responded with more than 500 workers participating in efforts to restore power following the tornado.
