DENVER (Oct. 1, 2024) – Xcel Energy is building a better, cleaner energy future by taking steps to create a smarter and stronger energy grid, for a more secure energy supply. As part of this commitment, Xcel Energy crews will continue to install underground transmission lines in 20th Street from west of Chestnut Place through an alley near Blake Street to the Barker Substation Building. Construction begins as early as Oct. 1, 2024.
Crews will work Monday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This portion of construction is expected to be completed in spring 2025. Crews may be required to work evenings, nights or Sundays in certain situations.
Access to locations will be maintained, but traffic control measures will be in place for the safety of the public and our crews. Reduced speed limits will be enforced in construction work areas. Traffic flaggers will help direct traffic through the construction area as needed. Express lane access to I-25 will remain open.
