MINNEAPOLIS (July 30, 2025) — Xcel Energy crews have made significant progress over the last 24 hours, restoring electric service to 99% of customers affected by the recent storms that passed through the region.
Crews will continue to make progress today to restore the remaining 3,000 customers, primarily found in the east Twin Cities metro, and aim to bring them back online this evening.
The company organized more than 2,000 crew members to assist with restoration efforts, calling in hundreds of additional workers from its own crews in its Colorado and Texas service areas, and received help from mutual aid partners Minnesota Power, Otter Tail Power Company and Madison Gas and Electric.
Earlier this week, back-to-back storms brought lightning, heavy rain, hail and high winds up to 65 mph that damaged electric infrastructure and caused outages for about 300,000 customers across Minnesota, primarily in the Twin Cities metro, and western Wisconsin.
Crews prioritize the largest outages first to restore power to as many people as possible early on. Xcel Energy knows losing power is difficult and the company thanks customers for their patience and support of its crews. Customers can visit the Outage Map to see their latest estimated restoration times, which will be updated as crews continue their work.
