AMARILLO, Texas (May 22, 2025) – Xcel Energy has named Todd Hancock as the senior director of the Harrington and Nichols Generating Stations, following the retirement of Dennis Buchanan.
Hancock brings many years of experience in operations, engineering and leadership, including the past six years as Senior Operations Manager at Nichols Station. He also served seven years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He holds an MBA and an Engineering degree from West Texas A&M University.
Hancock succeeds Dennis Buchanan, who retires after 42 years with the company, including 12 years as Senior Director at Harrington/Nichols. Buchanan began his career with Xcel Energy as a plant engineer back in 1983, steadily working his way up the ranks.
“Dennis’s leadership over the past four decades has left a lasting impact on our operations and our team, and we are grateful for his dedication and service,” said David Low, regional vice president of operations, Xcel Energy. “I’m confident Todd will honor that legacy with his leadership and commitment to operational excellence.”
Hancock lives in Amarillo with his wife, Heather, who also works at the company. He enjoys restoring muscle cars, spending time outdoors with his dogs, and supporting local nonprofits that serve Veterans and the community.
