LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (March 20, 2019) – Construction of the second Solar*Connect Community project is complete and Xcel Energy’s second community solar garden is now generating clean, renewable energy for its subscribers.

The garden, part of Wisconsin’s largest community solar garden program, is on about seven-acres of land near Highway 33 just west of Cashton. It was built by OneEnergy Renewables (external link), a leading developer of community and utility-scale solar projects across the country.

The first community solar garden began generating renewable energy in Oct. 2017 in Eau Claire. Xcel Energy is also moving forward with a third and final garden in Ashland, which is expected to be built later this year. Solar*Connect Community is currently fully subscribed.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned for some time in May.

A short video of the completed project can be found here (external link).
