DENVER (March 14, 2026) – Xcel Energy is positioning hundreds of crew members to inspect power lines and make repairs to the system following today’s extreme wind event.

Extreme fire weather conditions are expected to persist into the evening, with continued high winds, causing additional power outages. Even though the high winds may subside, power will not be restored immediately because crews must patrol each line to repair damage and make sure it’s safe to re-energize.

Restoration times will be impacted by continuing high winds and the extent of damage to the system, and for some customers, outages may extend through the weekend. The company recognizes that there are a small number of customers who have experienced an outage since Thursday’s wind event.

As crews work to restore power to those affected by today’s severe weather and PSPS event, please remember to give them the space they need to do their job safely and efficiently.

Xcel Energy reminds customers there will be unplanned outages outside of the PSPS event due to high wind. Customers should stay clear of any downed power lines and report them, as well as any damage they see to Xcel Energy.

PSPS events reduce the risk of wildfires and protect public safety. Xcel Energy uses weather forecasts and other data sources to decide how to best protect the customers and communities it serves. Key factors in calling for a PSPS event include high winds, low relative humidity and dry ground conditions and all are present today.

Customers who live in areas where power lines are underground, or do not see damage in their immediate area can still be impacted by a PSPS or power outage due to how their neighborhood connects to the larger grid.

Resource Centers

8A Resource Center is available for customers impacted by today’s Public Safety Power Shutoff at the North Boulder Recreation Center at 3170 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304, until 8 p.m.

An Xcel Energy RED Truck is at the resource center providing support and information to customers. Individuals who need food assistance can use the Find Food Map to find a Hunger Relief Partner in communities across Colorado.
