MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 1, 2025) — Xcel Energy has begun operations at its new service center in Waite Park, Minnesota, to continue serving customers in the St. Cloud area with safe, reliable energy. The facility enables the company to expand its workforce and efficiency to rapidly respond to electric and gas outages.
The Waite Park Service Center offers expanded materials storage and replaces a smaller service center nearby, which served the area for decades. More than triple the size of the previous facility, the property includes the main service center, vehicle storage and fleet service buildings where nearly 80 employees and roughly 85 vehicles and equipment trailers are stationed to serve customers across the St. Cloud area.
“Our greatest commitment is to serve our customers with safe, reliable energy they depend on every day,” said John Marshall, regional vice president, Customer & Community at Xcel Energy. “This new service center will allow us to continue delivering excellence for our communities in the St. Cloud area and our employees are proud of the upgrades we’ve made to help them perform their best.”
The service center makes it possible for the company to respond quickly to any issues that might arise on the power grid in the area, including power outages from storms, and to also perform the essential maintenance that keeps service safe and reliable.
Employees moved into the new space at the beginning of September. The previous service center property is being retained and will be repurposed Apfor future use.
Xcel Energy service centers are not designed to assist walk-in customers and are not open to the public. Customers are encouraged to reach out to customer care at 800-895-4999 for electric or gas service requests or questions about their bills.
